Our Verdict

Be. Fremantle is the best hotel in Fremantle, full stop. The harbour-view apartments at Fishing Boat Harbour combine genuine luxury with the self-contained practicality that makes extended stays comfortable. The pool, spa, and gym tick the resort boxes. The kitchenettes in every room mean you can eat in or eat out , your choice. The only question is whether Fremantle's restaurant and bar scene justifies a $420/night stay compared to what that money buys in Perth. For most visitors spending 2-3 nights to explore Freo and catch the Rottnest ferry, it does.

What We Love

  • Harbour views from most apartments , boats, water, sunset
  • Full kitchenette in every room (not just a microwave and kettle)
  • Pool, spa, and gym on-site , rare for Fremantle
  • Walking distance to Fishing Boat Harbour restaurants
  • Modern, well-maintained interiors with quality finishes
  • 10-minute walk to Rottnest Island ferry terminal
  • On-site parking included

Consider

  • $420/night is steep for Fremantle (Perth CBD luxury starts around the same)
  • 10-minute walk from Cappuccino Strip and markets , not truly central
  • Apartment-style layout may feel impersonal to some guests
  • Fishing Boat Harbour area is tourist-heavy with average seafood restaurants
  • No on-site restaurant of note , you're eating out or cooking in
  • Can hear harbour noise (boats, restaurants) in harbour-facing rooms

The Rooms

The apartments range from studios (45sqm) to two-bedroom units (85sqm). All include a kitchenette with cooktop, oven, dishwasher, and full-size fridge , a step above most hotel kitchenettes. Harbour-view rooms face Fishing Boat Harbour and the Indian Ocean beyond. Interior finishes are modern and clean: stone benchtops, quality fixtures, comfortable beds. The apartments feel more like a well-appointed holiday rental than a traditional hotel room. Balconies in most harbour-facing units.

Location

Fishing Boat Harbour, about 500 metres south of Fremantle CBD. The harbour's seafood restaurants (Kailis, Cicerello's, Bathers Beach House) are at your doorstep. Little Creatures brewery is 3 minutes walk. The Cappuccino Strip and Fremantle Markets are a 10-minute walk north. Rottnest Express ferry terminal is 10 minutes on foot. The location suits people who want harbour life; those who prioritise the main Fremantle strip should stay at Hougoumont instead.

Value for Money

At $420/night for a harbour-view apartment, Be. Fremantle is Fremantle's most expensive stay. The value proposition rests on the combination of luxury finishes, harbour views, self-catering capability, pool, and parking. Comparable quality in Perth CBD (Crown Towers, COMO The Treasury) starts at $400-550. If you're specifically in Fremantle, Be. is worth the premium over Hougoumont ($280) for the pool, views, and apartment space. For quick business stays, Hougoumont or Quest offer better per-night value.

Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Be. Fremantle worth the price?
For 2-3 nights exploring Fremantle and Rottnest, yes. The harbour views, pool, kitchenette, and parking together justify the premium. For a single-night stopover, you're paying for amenities you won't fully use , Hougoumont at $280 makes more sense.
Is Be. Fremantle close to the Rottnest ferry?
About 10 minutes on foot to the Rottnest Express terminal at B Shed. Easy walk with luggage. You can see the terminal from the harbour.
Does Be. Fremantle have a restaurant?
No dedicated hotel restaurant. But Fishing Boat Harbour has a dozen dining options within 3 minutes walk: Bathers Beach House for cocktails, Kailis for seafood, Little Creatures for beer and pizza. The kitchenette also makes self-catering easy.
How does Be. Fremantle compare to Perth luxury hotels?
Be. Fremantle matches Perth 5-stars on apartment quality but offers a completely different experience , harbour town vs corporate city. You miss out on Perth's dining diversity and cultural venues but gain Fremantle's walkability, character, and proximity to Rottnest.
